Two kinds of data, kept completely separate
1. Patient & benefit data — never leaves your device
When you click Capture on an insurance portal page, the extension reads the benefit details shown on that page and stores them in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own computer. You can edit them and copy them to your clipboard to paste into your practice management software.
This data is processed entirely on your device. It is never sent to us, to any server, or to any third party. We do not see it, store it, or transmit it. Because we never create, receive, maintain, or transmit your patients' protected health information, we are not a HIPAA Business Associate.
2. Account & usage info — only with your opt-in
If, and only if, you check the optional box during setup, the extension sends us:
- the work email you typed,
- the practice name you typed, and
- a list of dental-software tools we detect in your browser, drawn from a fixed list of known dental vendors (e.g.
lassie.ai,dentrixascend.com).
We use this only to decide which integrations to build next. We do not collect your general browsing history, full web addresses, page contents, query strings, or anything about patients. We send only the registrable domain of recognized dental tools — never an arbitrary URL.
This is opt-in and severable: if you decline, the capture feature works fully. You can turn it off any time in Settings. We do not sell or share this data with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.
Security & retention
Account/usage data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored encrypted at rest. We retain it for 24 months and delete it on request. Contact: hello@easybenefits.io.
Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
